6th hour got the awesome opportunity to participate in a game of #Mystery Skype with another 7th grade class (from Maryland) where we used questioning and deductions skills to figure out each others famous authors. We had a blast! Check out more info on Mystery Skype here
To mark the end of our memoir unit, student's final assessment included creating a spoken podcast of their memoir. Students had to include background music and sound effects, bring many examples of figurative language, have a logically narrative, and detailed visualizations for the listener. Mystery Unit-November/December
As we embark the Mystery Unit, students should be reading a mystery novel during their independent reading. This link is a helpful for helping select from a myriad of choices. Please check with the school library or head to the Ann Arbor District library List of 100 awesome Mystery novels In class, we will be reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Hound of the Baskervilles, and the Dying Detective short story series Besides reading some of the great mystery writers, students got to use their new mystery vocabularies to create detective narratives on crimes such as the "Lamb to the Slaughter" murder mystery.
